A Message

“I WISH I HAD DONE MORE”
A few months ago we saw the
beginning of what was to become an on-going saga of alleged
wrong-doing at Penn
State University. Some
higher-ups were
summarily fired while others stepped down from their
positions. Now, I
am not writing this to rehearse the
things that happened there as I have no direct knowledge of
what happened or
did not happen. Just
this…as the great
coach, Joe Paterno, was laid to rest last week I was reminded
of his response
to it all. “I wish I had done more.”
If this life was over for you
and you were standing at the door of eternity, what is it of which you would wish that you had done
more? I
have said on several occasions, while at
Neely’s Bend, that one of two things will happen to each of
us. Either the
Lord will come back again while we
are alive are we will go that way of death that so many have
gone before.
For each of us there will be things
that we will wish
we had done. Maybe some will wish
that they had taken that
cruise to the Bahamas. Maybe
some will
regret that they didn’t purchase the farm that they always
wanted. Some
will, undoubtedly, wish that they had
told their boss what they really thought of him. There
are many things that we might wish to do while we have time.
There are many more important
things to be accomplished than acquiring some material thing
or getting someone
told. For
instance, is there anyone that you need to tell how much you
love them? Is
there someone that you need to forgive for something that happened so
long ago that
the apology is almost forgotten?
There
are so many things that need to be done while we are still
here.
There is work to do. Jesus said, in John 9:4 “I must work the works of Him who sent Me while it is day; the night is coming when no one can work.” As long as we are drawing breath on this planet we have opportunity. When we draw our last breath the whole game will change.
What is it that you are putting off?
Do you need to become
a
Christian?
Do you need to tell you
neighbor, or family member, or
co-worker about Christ and what He has meant in
your life.
Do not come to the end of your life and have to say...
“I Wish I Had
Done More.”
